Co-Curricular Activity


 Creative & Performing Arts

  • A substantial number of hours in the timetable, and ample opportunity after school, are dedicated to encouraging children to explore a wide range of creative pursuits.
  • Each pupil is allowed to select one or more of his/her interest on music, drama, dance, painting, pottery, literary and scientific interest.
  • The pleasures in doing and the satisfaction of achievement not only tap students creativity and originality, but also encourage their concentration, patience, commitment and teamwork.
  • In so many of these activities, the performance on stage or the painting hung on the wall is only the final product, the tip of the creative iceberg hinting at the level of endeavor that went into its creation.
  • Regular sessions of drama and the hours of rehearsal help a child understand his/her responses to different situations, rather than necessarily making an actor of him/her. Similarly, painting will help him/her learn to observe different forms and shades of color, rather than producing a great artist.
  • The non-sporting activities offered by the School include pottery, art & craft, music & dance, and school newsletter and magazine projects, scrabble, speech and drama, theatre, debating, quizzing, film club, Science Club and Nature Club.

 Fairs & Exhibitions

  • The Interest Fairs and Young Explorers' Fairs shall be based on the premise that not all kids love Science but all kids love something!
  • These fairs encourage students to develop deep into concepts that arouse their curiosity.
  • It helps participants an opportunity to investigate their preferred areas and share them with the school community.
  • Every Interest Fair and Young Explorers' Fair is a learning experience for both the students and the teachers involved.
  • Science Fairs give students an opportunity to individually investigate a scientific problem.
  • Students complete individual or team projects in which they are required to formulate a question, research a topic, design an experiment, collect and analyze data, and form a conclusion based on their work.
  • These projects help students learn the scientific method by actually going through almost the same process that scientists use.
  • Students also learn how to sequence data into an attractive display and how to make a clear and effective oral presentation of their work.

 Events & Celebrations

  • Explorers' Fairs at the lower primary level, Interest Fairs at the upper primary level and Science Fairs at the secondary school level will be held annually.

  • Sports and games take their rightful place in the lives of students at Sudhir Memorial Institute, whether they seek high-level competition or recreation.
  • The The benefits of physical activity for the young are manifold.
  • It Sports give an opportunity to develop their physical skills and to remain healthy and active, while experiencing the pleasure of achievement.
  • The mental and physical strength, self-discipline, rigor and practice required to excel help them gain confidence in all that they do as a part of a team.
  • This also teaches them the qualities of self-control, self-esteem and leadership and develops the characteristics of a true team player and sportsperson, attributes that will be of value later in life.
  • The blend of the joy of winning and the pain of defeat experienced in the sporting arena helps the individual to be balanced, cope with failure and empathize with his opponents and his team when faced with defeat.
  • The sporting activities offered at the School include aerobics, athletics, badminton, basketball, chess, cricket, football, table tennis, throw ball, volleyball and yoga.
  • The School will conduct an annual sports meet separately for each of the sections - the Primary School and the Secondary School - and will hold inter-house competitions in most of the sports mentioned above.

 Club & Activities

  • School offers students a wide range of club activities appropriate to their age. Joining a club is one of the many ways in which we seek to encourage students to pursue areas of personal interest. They are as follows:-

Extra Curricular Activity

Overall performance of a candidate is based on the achievement in the Scholastic Areas as well as Co-Scholastic Areas and Co-Curricular Activities. Balanced and integrated emphasis on scholastic and co-scholastic areas is essential for enriching and enhancing learning experiences of students. Co Scholastic is an important area of assessing students personality development and need to be given equal importance by the schools.

Planning of co-scholastic activities carried out in the beginning of the academic year so that as per the schedule, each child gets to learn and improve his / her skills in non academic domains. Each month a planner, specifying activities / attitude and values / skills to be honed is circulated. Board has instructed to allot periods for co-scholastic areas while preparing Curriculum framework. Weekly one period is allotted for work education, art education, co-curricular activities, health and physical education.

Assessment of co scholastic activity is done systematically and methodologically which includes:

  • Identifying qualities.
  • Specifying behaviors/ indicators of the concerned area/ skills.
  • Collection of evidence related to the concerned behavior / indicator through observation and other techniques.
  • Recording of the evidences. Analysis of the recorded evidences.
  • Finally reporting and awarding grades.
  • Life skills : consisting of thinking skills, social skills and emotional skills. Work education.
  • Work education.
  • Visual and performing arts.
  • Attitudes and Values : attitude towards teachers, schoolmates, school programs and environment.
  • Value system refers to the frame work which must be developed right through primary to secondary levels.
